The Wausa Community Foundation Fund selected three local organizations to receive a total of $8,500 in grants during its February board meeting. All investments are aimed at furthering the fund’s vision of promoting a welcoming community that attracts people of all means to live in, work in and visit the Wausa community.
Grantees include:
- TeamMates of Wausa which received a grant of $2,500 to support its mentoring program expenses in 2021.
- Thabor Tots Child Care Center which received $3,000 to support efforts to purchase outdoor playground equipment.
- The Wausa Collaborative Board which received $3,000 to support continued management of the website https://wausane.com/ and social media to promote the community of Wausa as a great place to live, work and raise a family.
The Wausa Community Foundation Fund was launched in 2005 by a group of thoughtful leaders as an affiliated fund of Nebraska Community Foundation. Now part of the statewide movement to spearhead community development and create prosperity, the Fund is working to build a robust unrestricted endowment to benefit the Wausa community long into the future.
Every year, a volunteer Fund Advisory Committee grants out a portion of the income earned by the unrestricted endowment to local 501(c)(3) public charities and governmental entities for charitable activities that are improving the quality of life and creating new opportunities for those who call Wausa home.
Wausa Community Foundation Fund strives to promote a welcoming community that will preserve the integrity of our small-town history and heritage. Through local investment from generous benefactors, we encourage opportunities and services that attract people of all means to live, work, and visit our community.
In the past two years, Wausa Community Foundation Fund has invested over $33,000 into various community organizations. Members of the Fund Advisory Committee say they would love to invest more and can do that as the endowment grows. All community members are invited to contribute to the Unrestricted Endowment Account, a resource that will keep the Wausa community growing, improving and thriving for many generations to come.
