Mission accomplished by the Wausa TeamMates. Wow what a great turnout we had for our recognition on Tuesday, Feb. 6th. A big Thank You, Thank You, thank you to all those who attended and for that the TeamMates program has gotten through out the years. We were again able to stretch across the gym floor as the matches we introduced. It was an awesome site to see so many matches and being thanked for all their hard work. During Mentoring month, we had a little drawing for those participating. Each Mentor/Mentee we asked: Why do you love TeamMates. JoAnn Kumm was the winner of a coffee cup. She stated that she loves getting to know a student better and following them as they grow. She also gave a thank you to the teachers who are so cooperative. Oliver was the mentee winner of a TeamMates travel mug. What he loves about TeamMates is: he gets to play chess. Along with recognizing the matches we held our annual Chuck the Duck contest during the half timeof the boys’ basketball game. This is always a fun event for everyone to finish off our night.
Also, during the end of the month of January we tried a new fundraiser, by selling popcorn with a company out of Cedar Rapids, IA. At the time of printing, we are not sure of the proceeds we will receive for the sales of our chapter. At this time, we would like to thank anyone who purchased a bag, two or three, and helping support our chapter. If you did not purchase popcorn but gave a monetary donation that was very much appreciated also, thank you. As our chapter grows we are in need of more funds to help pay for scholarships, activities and items for the matches to have available for their meetings.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor you can register online at teammates.org or contact Chris Johnson, Chapter Coordinator, or any of the board members. We would love to have you on our team. Just Be There!
